Mina Akamu
Owner & Founder
Born in Japan, Ms. Mina spent the first few years of her childhood in New York, where she learned English before returning to Japan. She attended Yokohama International School from kindergarten through graduation, then went on to study abroad at the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo. She later completed her studies at Sophia University in Tokyo and immediately began her career at My Gym Japan.
After opening and managing My Gym Kichijoji, she moved back to O‘ahu to start a family and served as the International Director at My Gym Honolulu in ‘Āina Haina. When the pandemic hit in 2020, Mina decided it was time to bring all her experiences together, and My Treehouse Club was born.
With over 16 years of teaching experience, Mina has worked with children from ages 0–18 and has a natural ability to connect with every personality she meets. She teaches children the importance of being a good person and how they can contribute to their family and society as a whole. Drawing from her background in fitness, art, and theatre, she creates programs that nurture both the heart and mind, inspiring every child to become a thoughtful, capable, and compassionate global citizen.
Mina is also a proud mom to her middle school daughter and two furry babies, Wendy and Dorothy.
